News 21 Fellow Sebastian Abbot

Sebastian Abbot is a 2006 graduate from the Masters in Public Policy program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  Prior to attending the Kennedy School, he worked as a financial analyst in the investment banking and private equity industries with J.P. Morgan and Affiliated Managers Group.  He has also worked as a freelance journalist in the Middle East and as a policy analyst with the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization at the U.S. Department of State.  He received an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University in 1998.

News 21 Fellow Khody Akhavi

Khody Akhavi graduated from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism in May of 2006.  While there, he did weekly assignment work in the South Bronx and focused on immigration, urban development and new media.  Next year, he’ll be at Georgetown University, pursuing a master’s degree in Arab Studies.  He aspires to work for an international news agency covering the Middle East.

News 21 Fellow Anthony Basich

Anthony Basich has written for the Hunterdon Review and the Echoes Sentinel, two weekly newspapers in New Jersey, as well as NBA TV. He has an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.

News 21 Fellow Dakin Campbell

Dakin Campbell has written and edited for The Freeman’s Journal in
Cooperstown, N.Y. He has an M.S. in journalism from the Columbia
University Graduate School of Journalism and a B.S. in Human
Development from Cornell University. He currently lives in Astoria, Queens.

News 21 Fellow Jeff DelViscio

Jeff DelViscio recently earned dual Masters degrees in Earth Sciences and Journalism from Columbia University. While at Columbiahe studied climate science and concentrated in New Media at the journalism school. He specializes in information graphics and will be helping to coordinate visuals for Columbia's News 21 group.

News 21 Fellow Nina Gregory

Prior to earning an MS from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Nina Gregory worked on staff at Fox Sports Networks. She has written for magazines including Intersection, Grand Royal, The Robb Report and Stance, which she helped launch for Time Warner. She has written for newspapers, Web sites and worked as a copywriter on campaigns for clients including Apple, hp, Volvo and Neutrogena. She holds a BA from UCLA.

News 21 Fellow Elena Herrero-Beaumont

Elena Herrero-Beaumont is a Fulbright Scholar from Spain. She has been a visiting scholar at the Kellogg School of Management and at the Political Science Department at Northwestern University. She has a BA in law from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an MS in financial markets from Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles, and an MS in journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.

News 21 Fellow Meredith Kolodner

While attending Columbia Journalism School, Meredith Kolodner wrote stories on housing, immigration, and local politics. She covered the labor beat for The Bronx Beat newspaper and community issues for The Queens Chronicle.

News 21 Fellow William Launder

William Launder has written for the Arizona Republic, Indianapolis Star, World Peace Herald, United Press International, and Climbing Magazine. He is a graduate of Columbia School of Journalism and Georgetown University.

News 21 Fellow Rachel Monahan

Rachel Monahan has published articles in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Orlando Sentinel and the Lexington Herald-Leader. She received a B.A. in English from Yale University.
